COVID EIDL Payment Assistance
Notice: The U.S. Small Business Administration is unable to accept new applications for COVID-19 relief loans or grants. We continue to offer PPP loan forgiveness.
Eligible COVID EIDL borrowers may reduce loan payments by 50% for six months through the SBA Payment Assistance Program. This option is available once every five years.
For loans originally approved above $200,000, email COVIDEIDLServicing@sba.gov until portal access is available.
Eligibility
You may qualify if:
- Your loan is current and less than 90 days past due.
- Your business is open and operating.
- You and all owners are not in active bankruptcy.
- You have a temporary cash-flow or financial hardship—not a long-term inability to repay.
Important notes
- If you are already enrolled, your current assistance period will continue.
- After the six-month period, full payments resume.
- Interest continues to accrue during reduced payments, which may increase the final balloon payment.
- Missing payments may result in referral to the Treasury Offset Program after 120 days delinquent.
- Eligible delinquent loans may also be transferred to Treasury Cross-Servicing. After transfer, SBA can no longer service the loan. Contact Treasury at 800-289-7388.
Charged-off loans
To restore a charged-off or uncollectible loan that has not yet been sent to Treasury Cross-Servicing:
- Pay the full overdue balance through the SBA Loan Portal.
- After payment posts, email COVIDEIDLServicing@sba.gov to request reinstatement to current status.
For business-plan, capital-access, or counseling support, contact your local SBA District Office
